Duct cleaning or vent
cleaning refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of
forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat
exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans (drip pans), fan motor and fan housing, and the air
handling unit housing.(EPA) Duct cleaning may include the application of chemical biocides designed to kill
microbiological contaminants. Sealants and encapsulants may be applied to cover the inside surfaces of the air
ducts and equipment housings to control mold growth and prevent the release of dirt particles and fibers from
the duct.

Not enough evidence has been collected to make a determination, and it is
impossible to generalize about each separate condition. However, if someone in your home suffers from
allergies or if your vents spew out visible dust particles then it is reasonable to have your air ducts
cleaned. It is also reasonable to assume that over time your ducts will become filled with dust, mites and
other debris, which if left unchecked might become damp and form the radius for mold growth. And
therefore, occasional air duct cleaning can potentially prevent the development of harmful mold growth in
your home. If any of these concerns apply to you, give Fresh Air Duct
Services a call and we will be happy to make a professional assessment
of your air duct cleaning needs
